On 26 February 2024, the coordinators of the educational project ''Dor de Eminescu - Missing Our National Poet'', Mrs. Adelaida Loredana Iorga and Mrs. Claudia Emilia Frînculeasă decided to explore Mihai Eminescu's poetry as well as the wonders of transdisciplinarity in order to unleash the creativity of the 9th graders enrolled in the humanities class at Liceul Teoretic ''Radu Vlădescu''.
Starting from the realisation that in the field of education, the pursuit of creativity often intertwines with the aspiration to transcend disciplinary boundaries, and having embraced this approach before, the two teachers continually seek innovative practices to foster holistic learning experiences that inspire students to think beyond the confines of tradition. One such transformative pedagogical endeavor was the transdisciplinary creativity workshop, a dynamic space where the 27 students were given the opportunity to embark on a journey of exploration, drawing from diverse fields - poetry, music, ICT, Art- to express their creativity.
At the heart of this workshop lay the fusion of disciplines, where the intersections of literature, music, technology and creative writing converge. Inspired by the profound works of Mihai Eminescu, an indisputable genius of Romanian poetry, the students were invited to delve into his verses, unraveling the layers of meaning and resonating with the timeless essence of his words. Without exceptions, Eminescu’s poetry served as a catalyst, igniting the flames of imagination and setting the stage for a transformative creative process.
The pedagogical gains of such a workshop were manifold, weaving a tapestry of educational enrichment that filled our souls with an immense joy. Central to the workshop's pedagogical framework was the act of creative expression through poetry writing. Drawing inspiration from Eminescu's themes, motifs, and imagery, the students were invited on a voyage of self-discovery, channeling their emotions, thoughts, and experiences into evocative verses. Through the process of writing and revision, they refined their poetic voice, honing their craft as wordsmiths.
Furthermore, the collaborative nature of the workshop fostered a sense of community and belonging, as students engaged in peer feedback, dialogue, and collective brainstorming. By sharing their work and receiving constructive criticism, they cultivated empathy, resilience, and openness to diverse perspectives. This collaborative ethos not only enhances the quality of individual creative output but also nurtures a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to take creative risks and explore new horizons.
In conclusion, the transdisciplinary creativity workshop offered a transformative educational event fostering a holistic learning experience. By drawing inspiration from Mihai Eminescu's poetry, the students enjoyed their journey of exploration, creativity, and self-discovery, gaining insights into literature, history, and the human condition. Through collaborative engagement, critical reflection, and creative expression, they emerged as empowered learners, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and resilience to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
As educators, we are committed to embracing the transformative potential of transdisciplinarity and will continue to nurture the creative spirit within every student.
