Green fingers, green minds ... taking steps towards ecological education

In a world increasingly shaped by environmental challenges, the importance of ecological awareness and responsibility has never been greater. At the heart of this shift stand the young minds who are ready to take action, not just with words, but with their hands and souls.

This spring, the 10th-graders enrolled in the humanities class in our school became the architects of one of their biggest dreams, transforming a simple green space into a vibrant school garden. Over several days of teamwork, planning, and physical effort, they turned a grassy plot into a structured, welcoming area that now breathes new life into the school grounds.

So, what are the benefits of this extracurricular activity?

🌿 Hands-on learning, real-world impact

Under the blue skies and shifting clouds, students rolled up their sleeves and began the real work of environmental stewardship. With shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows, they prepared the soil, defined the planting areas with small fences, laid gravel walkways, and planted a variety of young shrubs and trees. The garden wasn’t just built - it was cultivated, reflecting both dedication and care.

🌼 A place to grow - for plants and people

More than just an ecological project, the new school garden is a space for learning, reflection, and connection. It offers a living classroom for future lessons, a peaceful place for relaxation, and a daily reminder of the value of nature. The students have created something that will grow with them - both literally and symbolically.

🌍 A step toward a sustainable future

The school garden is more than a patch of green; it is a statement. It says that sustainability starts at home, in the classroom, and in our everyday choices. It says that the future is not only written in textbooks, but planted with intention, watered with collaboration, and nurtured with hope.

To my amazing 10th-grade students - thank you for your energy, enthusiasm, and leadership. You’ve shown what being responsible citizens of the Earth is about. You’ve proved that ecological education isn’t confined to theory; on the contrary, it lives and breathes through action.

As the garden blossoms, so will your legacy. Green fingers, green minds, and a greener school for generations to come.

Digital Explorers and Promoters of Cultural Heritage - The final meeting of the project team 09/06/2025

Our final online meeting took place with only a few participants in attendance, primarily the project founder and two coordinating teachers from two partner schools in Romania and Greece. Although the turnout was limited, the discussion was focused, productive, and essential as we discussed the preparations for the upcoming application for the National Quality Label.

The main objective of the meeting was to review all the elements of our project in relation to the NQL criteria. We began by going through the eTwinning quality framework, ensuring that each section of the application - pedagogical innovation, collaboration, curriculum integration, use of technology, and evaluation and results etc. - was clearly supported by evidence from our TwinSpace.

Each meeting participant gave a brief summary of their documentation and contributions, and we cross-checked that all the necessary files (such as students’ collaborative work, the evidence of collaborative activities, feedback surveys, and joint products) were well-organized and accessible. We agreed on final adjustments to our shared project journal and made a few improvements to better highlight collaborative aspects and student involvement.

The group also discussed challenges encountered during the project and how we addressed them. These reflections were important for the “evaluation” part of the application and showed the resilience and commitment of the core team. A few lessons learned during the project implementation were also mentioned.

To wrap up, we finalized a timeline for submitting the NQL application in each country. Although small in number, the team’s dedication was evident, and there was a shared sense of pride in the work we had accomplished together.

As a project founder, I appreciated the open communication and attention to detail that made this final step smooth and collaborative. We are confident that our project meets the standards for recognition and look forward to receiving feedback from our respective National Support Services.

All Together for a Global Celebration - The final online meeting of the eTwinning project team (05/06/2025)

The final online meeting of our eTwinning project "All Together for a Global Celebration" was successfully held on 5 June 2025. The six coordinating teachers from the three partner schools joined the meeting to review the project activities, reflect on the outcomes, and celebrate the collaborative efforts made throughout the project duration.

The meeting aimed at sharing an overview of the project timeline and achievements, each partner school presenting a summary of their contributions, sharing the feedback collected from the participants, and expressing their appreciation for the collaborative learning experiences.

The project team also expressed their intentions to actively collaborate in the preparation of the quality label applications to recognize the efforts of the participants and achievements of the project. The teachers reflected on how they carefully documented the activities carried out throughout the project, including screenshots, student works, collaborative tasks, and communication records. They ensured that their applications would highlight key elements such as pedagogical innovation, curriculum integration, student involvement, use of digital tools, and dissemination. The participants also used the opportunity to share tips, content, and support each other to submit well-prepared and comprehensive applications to their respective National Support Services before the official deadlines.

The meeting concluded with positive reflections, discussions on potential future collaborations, and a sufficient number of screenshots to document the collaboration and the bilateral partnership.

As part of the pedagogical meeting of the teachers of English on the Buzău Valley hosted at Liceul Teoretic "Nicolae Iorga" in Nehoiu town,  Mrs. Claudia Emilia Frînculeasă  from Liceul Teoretic „Radu Vlădescu” carried out a dissemination and valorization session of the results of the Erasmus+ project 2024-1-RO01-KA121-SCH-000206543, funded by the European Union. 

The presentation, entitled “From Tradition to Innovation: Rethinking Teaching and Assessment with Erasmus+”, contributed to promoting the exchange of experience and good educational practices, supporting the continuous professional development of the teachers of English, and facilitating access to quality education for all during the 2024–2025 school year.
