The round-table discussion on the topic of well-being at school

Following the World Mental Health Day on 10 October, an international day for global mental health education and awareness, and on the occasion of the Well-Being Day in School 2023, a national initiative addressing the well-being of pupils, social and emotional competencies, mental health, bullying and violence at school, as well as the need to cultivate positive experiences and relationship inside and outside the classroom, one of the humanities classes in our high school, the 9th graders involved in the international eTwinning project "Let's Be Well Together!", organised a round-table discussion which facilitated the understanding of the meaning and importance of well-being as a state in which pupils are able to develop their potential, learn and play creatively.

During the discussion, which involved answering the questions shared by the members of the extended school community, the participants understood that well-being at school should be associated with the following: feeling safe, valued and respected, being actively and meaningfully engaged in academic and social activities, having positive self-esteem, self-efficacy and a sense of autonomy, having positive and supportive relationships with teachers and peers, feeling a sense of belonging to their classroom and school, feeling happy and satisfied with their lives at school etc.

Last, but not least, pupils who experience well-being can build and enjoy positive relationships with others and experience a feeling of belonging to their school community.

Let's Be Well Together! The results of the initial Mentimeter survey 11 10 2023

Here are the results of the initial Mentimeter survey conducted between 27 September and 11 October 2023, aiming at identifying the main problems in all our school communities. A number of 345 project participants from 10 schools located in 3 countries - Poland, Romania and Turkey - selected 3 aspects affecting their well-being at school and the final results are as follows:

1) emotional challenges (stress, sadness, anger, anxiety, depression) - 229 votes;

2) low self-esteem, self-acceptance and negative body image - 107 votes;

3) indiscipline and lack of focus and motivation - 98 votes;

4) peer pressure and competition - 97 votes;

5) lack of interest in well-being and mental health - 88 votes;

6) bullying, conflicts and violence - 81 votes;

7) technology addiction - 81 votes;

8) unhappy relationships (Teacher-Student, Student-Student) - 79 votes;

9) risky behaviours and unhealthy habits - 72 votes;

10) lack of individual support and opportunities - 37 votes;

Promoting our eTwinning projects and Erasmus Accreditation during a national event dedicated to Global Education - 11/10/2023

"Digital Resources for the Development of Key-Competences" - the second edition of the National Symposium 5/10/2023

On October 5, 2023, the second edition of the National Symposium “Digital Resources for the Development of Key Competences” took place, a national event designed to meet the training and collaboration needs of the teachers in Romania through experience and best practice sharing.

The main aims of the National Symposium were:

- promoting collaboration between the non-governmental organization Asociația Profesională Profesori pentru Comunitate and educational institutions across Romania, including Liceul Teoretic "Radu Vlădescu" Pătârlagele, Buzău, Liceul Teoretic "Nicolae Iorga" Nehoiu, Buzău, Colegiul Economic "Regele Mihai I" Buzău, Buzău, Școala Gimnazială "Basarab I" Curtea de Argeș, Argeș, Școala Gimnazială Gavojdia, Timiș, Școala Gimnazială nr. 3 Voluntari, Ilfov, Școala Gimnazială nr. 29 Galați, Galați, Liceul Teoretic "Mircea Eliade", Galați, Liceul Teoretic ”Emil Racoviță” Techirghiol, Constanța, Liceul Tehnologic “Constantin Brâncuși”, Craiova, Dolj,  and others, in order to create real opportunities for the development of key competences.

- disseminating innovative teaching resources to enhance the quality of the educational process, support students' personal development, facilitate school inclusion, and improve language and communication skills, ultimately aiding the academic and social integration of children.

- showcasing best practices and teaching experiences from the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years to support teachers’ professional development, increase student motivation, and improve the teaching-learning-evaluation triad, including through the implementation of European projects such as eTwinning and Erasmus+.
