In December 2023, the 9th graders enrolled in the humanities class created original poems inspired by the Christmas traditions and customs in Britain. They read their beautiful creations in front of their classmates and form teacher.
The winners of the 2023 edition of the poetry festival for students:
The First Prize
An English Christmas (by Drezaliu Cristian)
Snowflakes falling from the sky,
Blanketing the world in white,
Children laughing, filled with glee,
Building snowmen, oh, so bright.
Frosty air, a chilly breeze,
Noses red and cheeks so rosy,
Crackling fire, warmth inside,
Another cup of cocoa, cozy.
Ice-skating on a frozen pond,
Glide and twirl, a graceful dance,
Mittens on, scarves wrapped tight
Winter's magic, pure delight.
So, let's embrace this wondrous season,
With joy and love, let's celebrate
Winter's beauty cold and bright
It's time to cherish another Christmas!
The Greatest Christmas Gift of All (by Tănăsescu Claudiu Ștefan)
The greatest gift for all of us was given a long time ago
It wasn't wrapped in paper or tied with a red bow
God's only Son, Jesus Christ, was sent to us
Straight from His Love, from the Heaven above;
So that each Christmas we can all receive
The gift of salvation for those who believe.
We can hear the bells on Christmas day ringing,
The magical calmness of the old carol-singing
About Jesus's birth, the Son of God who will bring
Peace on Earth and, to everybody, goodwill (...)
The Second Prize
An English Christmas (by Savu Alessia)
This is the season of joy and cheer,
When Christmas time is finally here;
The air is filled with much love and delight
As we gather around the tree, shining so bright.
Snowflakes gently fall from the December sky
Covering the world in a blanket oh, so tight
Families finally come together from near and far
Sharing love, laughter and wishing upon a star.
Children's eyes sparkle with pure delight
As they wait for Santa's visit on Christmas night
Gifts get unwrapped with joy and care
Reminding us of the faith we all share.
So, let's cherish these moments so lovely and dear,
And spread Christmas magic, here and near,
May your holiday season be merry and bright
Filled with love, laughter and pure delight!
Winter Wonderland (by Mănăilescu Beatrice Maria)
In the winter's embrace, snowflakes gently fall,
Covering the world in a magical white shawl,
Frosty air, sparkling ice and a chilly breeze,
Creating a wonderland, a sight which can only please.
Children building snowmen, laughter fills the air,
As they play and sled without a single care;
Hot cocoa warms our hands as we gather near
Sharing stories and love, spreading winter cheer.
Trees adorned with icicles, glistening in the sun,
A breath-taking sight for everyone
Footprints in the snow, a soft path for us to pass
A winter wonderland for memories that last.
The Third Prize
Christmas Eve (by Baciu Ioana Alexandra)
The children are waiting for Santa Claus
To see what presents they will get from him
Even if they were more naughty than good
They still feel truly happy inside.
Santa is also preparing himself
To visit all the children's homes
To reward them with the presents they requested
And meet all their great expectations.
