Teachers of English on the Buzau Valley: October 2019

The sophomores in class 10 C at "Nicolae Iorga" Theoretical High School celebrated The European Day of Languages 2019 with Landart and Communicative Games.

"A Day Out" was the title of the activity

whose main aims were to encourage the students to communicate in different foreign languages, to improve their team working skills and to facilitate the participants' personal development.

23 students coordinated by their form-teacher, Mrs. Maria Pană, were involved in a variety of tasks and games which provided them with lots of opportunities to practise face-to-face communication. Some of the most effective communication fundamentals, such as: empathy, introspection, turn-taking and practising speaking and listening in natural settings were put to good use.

The students appreciated the time spent outdoors and the engaging, interactive exercises.

To celebrate the Centenary of “Radu Vlădescu” Theoretical High School, the Humanities freshmen, coordinated by their form-teacher, Mrs. Emilia Frînculeasă, dedicated poems in English to their younger schoolmates studying in primary classes.

A Little Girl’s Story (by Bianca Mihaela Zota)

“I don’t want to go”, she said,
The-girl-who-wanted-in-the-park-instead.
“It is too hard and it’s not fun,
I would rather play and run!”

But one day she went there and worked hard,
She pushed the limits of her mind
And she could only hear one sound:
Her mother’s words, crystal-clear,
About her school: “Don’t run, my dear!
School is fun, you’ll learn a lot
Study hard and earn your spot!”

Time passed, life moved on,
And the little girl learned and learned,
Each day her inner desire would burn
And so she was in a competition of her own
One without regrets or tears
But with a lot of joy and cheers.
